Practice Fire Prevention All Year
- Be careful with candles and never leave them unattended.
- Do not overload outlets or extension cords.
- Remove electrical cords from under rugs and behind radiators.
- Keep portable heaters away from drapes, furniture, and bedding.
- Keep flammable liquids away from stoves and other heat sources.
- Remove combustible materials from around your stove.
- Create and practice a family escape plan.
- Keep matches, lighters, and candles away from children.
- Install and maintain smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Battery Safety Matters
- Never throw lithium batteries in household trash.
- Keep batteries away from exits and flammable materials.
- Stop using batteries that are swollen, damaged, or overheating.
- Only use approved chargers for phones, scooters, and e-bikes.
- Do not charge devices overnight on beds or couches.
- Store spare lithium batteries away from metal objects, such as keys or coins.
- Recycle old or damaged batteries at an approved battery drop-off location.
