Battery Safety Matters

- Stop using batteries that are swollen, damaged, or overheating.
- Only use approved chargers for phones, scooters, and e-bikes.
- Do not charge devices overnight on beds or couches.
- Store spare lithium batteries away from metal objects, such as keys or coins.
- Recycle old or damaged batteries at an approved battery drop-off location.

Fire Prevention Week promotes fire safety awareness and encourages families to practice fire prevention habits at home.
- Test smoke alarms once a month.
- Create and practice a home escape plan.
- Keep exits clear and accessible.
- Teach children how to respond to smoke alarms.
- Know two ways out of every room.
